d20 Future Junk Sketches

I had to semi-fix up my parents' computer the other day, and also went digging around on there looking for some old art of mine I wanted to transfer off. Ultimately, I ran across this'un,

And it reminded me of those wonderful olden days. The character I created is in the top middle, Ash Cauldwell. It started out with a pretty basic idea and open-to-build background as Matt had been running the entire campaign that way. In time, I came up with a better, more solid idea for what her background was going to be like, and even got to writing up a story arc that would take us through a few weeks to do, and it would explore her genetic heritage as well as give everyone else a good slice of things to do.

Unfortunately, someone else decided to run a story arc before I had mine finished up, and pretty much nosedived the game into the ground. The only way I'd be able to run it now is if I retcon... well, the entire thing. But at the same time, no one wanted to really roll back and we ultimately moved on to something new, so I never got to run it.

I'll probably end up writing something with that arc sometime, as I really liked the way I was building up Ash's character, and I loved Josh, Matt, John, and Rich's characters. We were a pretty diverse group, we all bounced off of each other pretty well, and even with the exploratory grip on the d20 Future rules, we still did pretty good.

Alas, I miss you, game. I wish I could've done The Awesome.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

GIMP Image Editor

Finally downloaded it today, after poking around and hearing that it's decent. It's rough to work with when I'm someone so used to OpenCanvas or Photoshop usage. I haven't had much time to futz with it, but I can't keep my tool pallate marked as "on top" while I'm working with it, nor the layers/pallate tabs.

The program takes up three total window tabs on the taskbar instead of being part of one larger list, and if you start to work with it, the other two (aforementioned pallate/toolbar) drop behind. The lines are a little rough to work with, and trying to fiddle with magnifications requires me to swap to the mouse as it's a little oversensitive to the taps on the tablet pen; one tap too fast or too slow and you're zoomed all the way out or all the way in. It also doesn't recognize the pen or eraser tips as "pen and eraser," either, it'll treat it as Color 1 (tip) and Color 2 (eraser).

The only thing I really look forward to playing with on this is the brush options; OpenCanvas doesn't seem to have any on the version that I use, and I don't have Photoshop anymore. Otherwise, I'm not too horribly impressed with it. ...

Yet.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

Dunno what it is, but when I go up to Morguen's (Yojimbo@FFMUX) apartment, I don't actually sleep for the entirety of the night, if at all. I'm a little more z_z in those states-- still perfectly conscious and aware and all, but uh.

Yeah.

So I got home, and I passed out on the couch after watching Doomsday, so my sleep-deprived mind clung to it and I had dreams involving giant monsters, things exploding, and severed heads being flung around left and right.

It's sort of like the time I had a dream where this was chasing me around dark hallways and stuff.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

Still working on the formatting business for this site, change out the picture for something more to my taste later. :|a

It's no secret that I do a lot of blue-lined work and create wireframes/doll-jointed dummies of sorts. Sometimes I practice this on real peoplez, with photographs. I don't really have a name for it, and I know a real name for doing stuff probably exsists, but I have no idea what that is, either.

It's just some goofy practice!

(I've also mangled a photo of David Tennant in a similar way.)

I have a couple of other poses and photos like this, and sometimes I'll just freehand it until I find myself satisfied. I'm strange like that.
